December 9th, 2013 | By Lindsay Champion

She flies through the air with the greatest of ease, Emmy nominee Annie Potts on the flying trapeze! The Designing Women and Ghostbusters favorite will succeed current star Tovah Feldshuh in Pippin, taking on the role of feisty grandma Berthe in the hit Tony-winning revival beginning on January 21. Feldshuh will play her final performance on January 19 before heading to Fort Lauderdale to lead the 10th anniversary production of Golda's Balcony. Directed by Diane Paulus, Pippin is currently playing at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre.

Potts made her Broadway debut in God of Carnage in 2009. She garnered an Emmy nomination for the Lifetime drama series Any Day Now. In addition to Ghostbusters and Designing Women, Potts’ notable film and TV credits include Love & War, Pretty in Pink, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Ghostbusters II, GCB, Toy Story and Toy Story 2.

Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson, Pippin tells the story of a young prince searching for his corner of the sky. In addition to Potts, Pippin stars Tony winner Patina Miller as the Leading Player, Matthew James Thomas as Pippin, Tony nominee Terrence Mann as Charles, Tony nominee Charlotte d’Amboise as Fastrada and Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine.
